Pediatric Obesity Program: Step Up 90 – Corder Pounders.
Corder Pounders is the Total Lifestyle Change’s"Pediatric Obesity Program now incorporated into our WEIGHT LOSS program called “Step Up 90” Corder Pounders is a "family-centered"intervention designed by Adreinne Corder in 2006 to be used in community centers, schools and recreation centers." Through Step up 90 Integrated Mobile App, Corder Pounders now engages children, adolescents and their families in fun physical fitness activities, healthy eating and virtual educational classes through the Step up 90 mobile app." The components include:
Fitness Testing will include electrolipographic body fat analysis, BMI, circumference measurements, cardiovascular capacity, resting heart rates, before and after photos, strength assessment of the major muscle groups, flexibility analysis of the major muscle groups and joints, personal goal formation, fitness plan development and implementation, resting metabolism and reading the body fat percentage.
Kid-cardio, a youth-friendly fun cardio activity that increases the heart rate. Each exercise session contains up to 90 minutes of kid-cardio activities that include jumping rope, hip hop dance, weighted hoola hoops, running songs, jump and jacks, hiking, obstacle course, water aerobics, step running (up and down) and partner step activities.
Resistance training is conducted in a group format and uses several friendly games while the students work out (i.e., counting games, team games, circuit base rotating games, etc.). The students work with a partner which results in their learning how to interact with each other and become responsible for each other’s safety when using weights.
Balance and agility focuses on the development of core conditioning and core strengthening. Balance and agility activities include obstacle course, relay team activities, agility ladder, exercise ball activities and partner step games.
Flexibility, muscle isolation and meditation consist of youth yoga practices that are used as warm up and cool down activities. Students learn that warming up and cooling down with yoga techniques will prevent muscle injuries and strains and prepares the body for workout.
